Hiking in Alcudia, Spain: Where the Sea Meets the Sky

Hiking in Alcudia, Spain: Where the Sea Meets the Sky

One thing Mallorca is known for is the hiking. And this isn’t just trails you’re hiking, this is full on mountains. We really didn’t mentally prepare ourselves for this excursion the other weekend, but we powered through. Matt and Cassie (the couple we met) asked […]

Exploring the Island: Cap De Formentor

Exploring the Island: Cap De Formentor

Being in a new place can be scary, but when it’s as beautiful as this it can also be exhilarating. I was so nervous to move out of my house that I’ve known for 20 some years. Not only was I leaving my home, but I was leaving my country!

Scared, excited, anxious, were just some of the emotions that had taken over my body weeks before we left. I was so excited to go exploring with my fiancé, but I was scared of leaving my “safe place”.

All I can say is that I’m so happy I took the leap into the unknown. The second weekend in our new country and we’ve already seen some amazing places. We rented a car for two days and headed off into the mountains. Our first trip was exploring Sa Calobra and Cap de Formentor.  We were asked by a family member to take the trek out to Cap de Formentor to, “find out what goes on there”. Well not much goes on there, but it was one of the most breath taking views I had ever seen.

The drive that led us there was something you’d see in a movie. The winding mountain roads were no joke. They were unbelievably narrow and filled with bikers and tourists. We had to stop and let the goats pass a couple of times, but other than that we made it there without a scratch.

Even though it was a little frightening every beautiful view was worth it.  Thankfully Thomas is a great driver so I wasn’t that nervous…

Exploring The Island is The Best Adventure

Exploring this island will be my favorite part of this adventure. I’m grateful for the teaching program, but I am more grateful for nature. These views bring me back down to earth. They make me remember what’s important in my life. They make me cherish these moments.

Remember, we are only given one life. Make sure you’re living it to the fullest!
