Our New Home: Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Palma de Mallorca Spain
Cala Major

We are finally settled in at our new place in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. It was a rough couple of weeks, apartment hunting, eating out all the time, and being unsure of our new work schedule. We hit a few rough patches along the way, but it all worked itself out. We ended up with a small studio apartment in a quaint town, Cala Major. It’s a little farther from our schools than we were hoping, but we’re a three minute walk to the beach! No complaints here especially since we’re both from the Ocean State.

For all my readers out there that don’t know me personally, let me tell you a bit about why I moved to Spain. My fiancé and I were looking for a new adventure together. He had always planned on moving back to Europe at some point in his life so we decided to do it while we are still young. We found a program called Auxiliares de Conversación. This job requires us to teach children English.

Keep in mind neither of us have ever been teachers, but we were up for the challenge. We’ve been teaching for about two weeks now and I’ve found a new respect for educators. Teaching is no walk in the park, but it’s so rewarding to help these children learn our language. Although I will be teaching them English one of my goals while I’m here is learning more Spanish. We’ll see how that goes.

We are both so excited to be living on this beautiful Island. There is so much exploring to be done while we are here. And my photos really don’t do this place justice.

Old Town

For anyone out there looking to vacation I highly recommend Mallorca. You have a little bit of everything here. Old town Palma is absolutely adorable and really gives you that Europe feel. But you can also venture outside of the city center and find gorgeous beaches, unreal hiking, and so much more.

So as you can see we love our new home and we are starting to fit right in, almost!
